Glow From a Great Night Sleep


It’s called ‘beauty sleep’ for a reason. We all know that a good night sleep is a girl's best friend, that’s no big secret. But what if we can actually boost our skin's hydration and improve the condition of our hair all whilst we sleep?

Well we can, it’s totally true and totally doable. By just tweaking our night time routine, here and there, we can take huge steps in achieving a healthy glow to our skin and bounce in our hair from the moment we wake up. Want to know how? Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Drinking water in the evening will ensure your body is suitably hydrated before you sleep, which is key for healthy skin. However make sure you stop drinking at least 30 minutes before you go to bed as this can have you waking up in the evening to dash to the loo, which can play havoc with your sleep patterns.

Coconut Oil is Your Best Friend

We’ve all seen the endless lists of how coconut oil can improve our lives, and that is never more true than we it comes to our pre-bedtime routine. Coconut oil is the one of the most hydrating oils on the planet and is a must have in any girl's bathroom cabinet.

As a full head to toe lathering before bed may leave your sheets in a bit of a mess, keep your application focused on your areas that need the most TLC. Rub into nails and cuticles, problem skin areas such as knees and elbows and the ends of your hair. For flip-flop ready feet, cover your feet and then sleep in cotton socks to hold the moisture in. Voila!

Your Bed is the Be-All and End-All

Nothing suits us better than a great night's sleep and nothing allows us to achieve that better than a wonderful, comfortable bed. Old mattresses can sometimes prevent us from getting the decent shut eye than we deserve as broken springs can pay havoc with our sleep posture and dirty mattresses can play havoc with allergies and our overall health. So make sure you clean your mattress every 6 months and replace your mattress every 5-7 years.

Collapsing into our beds after a long day is a wonderful feeling, so making sure your bed is that little slice of heaven after a hard day is essential. Silk Pillow for Silky Tresses

Did you know that we can damage our precious locks just from the friction of moving around on our pillows. So why not invest in a sumptuous silk pillow case? Your locks will be protected from less friction and you can wave goodbye to morning birds nest hair. Never our favourite look.

Extra Tip: Whilst on the subject of avoiding crazy morning hair, why not braid your hair before you go to bed, rub in a little moisturizing serum, and in the morning you’ll have gorgeous wavy beach locks. Simply shake out the plait and go.

Where All Else Fails

Let’s face it, no matter how much preparation and devotion goes into our beauty routines there are just days where nothing seems to work and we just want to hide under our duvets. We’ve all been there. So where all else fails my favourite beauty trick is as simple as counting sheep. My go-to accessory and the most loyal of beauty companions. My trusty sunglasses.

On such days, they cover a multitude of sins and allow us to get through the day feeling relatively inconspicuous. With a slick of lipgloss and hair in a no-frills bun or ponytail, our trusty sunglasses allow us to feel comfortable with those days when we are just not ‘feeling it’. And that’s ok.
