Menorca - The Unknown Pearl of the Mediterranean Sea

If you haven't made plans for the summer holiday yet and you are still looking for a destination, look no further because I have the perfect place for you in mind. Curious?
Just think about idyllic villages, dreamy beaches, peace and quiet, amazing landscapes. Now tell me, does that not sound pretty amazing? And before you ask, I'm not talking about Heaven, I am talking about Menorca, a place that you could easily mistake with heaven on Earth, in my opinion. So grab a cup of ice coffee and read on, because after you will read this post, I can assure you that you'll be booking that trip to Menorca in no time. Enjoy!

The Isle of Menorca is 130 miles away from Barcelona and it's part of the Balearic Islands. Unlike the other islands, like Ibiza and Mallorca, that have amazing hotels and nightlife, Menorca is just perfect for the person or family that looks for a more peaceful, relaxing and rustic getaway.

Menorca's idyllic beaches are surrounded by clear crystal water so you can understand why they are one of the island's main attractions. Each beach has its own character, with a big diversity of landscapes and distinctive characteristics between the northern and southern part of the island. On the north coast you can find high cliffs and small beaches with red sand, while on the south side, the white sand beaches invite you to discover them. Now, I don't know about you, but I love photography and I believe that this island is every photographer's dream.

In case you did not know, Menorca became a protected UNESCO biosphere in 1993, with its only goal beeing conserving the natural beauty of the island. Some of its spectacular features include amazing land and underwater caves, lagoons, splendid beaches and an abundance of flora and fauna. Also, on this island, you can see a lot of wildlife that it's only specific to this area. Interesting, right?

Besides visiting the gorgeous beaches that Menorca has to offer, you have to know that there are plenty of other things to do here. If you love to walk around the markets, you have to know that Menorca has plenty of those so you will be right in your element. Every day you can find a flea market or an artisan market, it's really something for everyone, so you can be assured that you will find something to your liking.

If you want to enjoy the beautiful coastline of Menorca, a cruise will be a perfect choice. There are a lot of cruise boats available, each with its own benefits (dinner at the sunset on the beach), so all you have to do it make the right choice and enjoy the view.

You can also take a boat and visit the other Balearic islands as well. The distance is not that big and you will have a blast! If you have a more adventurous side, you can go paragliding from one of those high cliffs, or do a kayak tour. Plenty of options available, all you need to do is have a good time.

With so many things to do and to see, I don't know about you, but I am more than ready for Menorca this summer. The question is, are you?
